Using a content delivery network for security monitoring

A content delivery network includes a plurality of cache servers. Each cache server is configured to receive a request for content from a client system and receive content and security data from a content server. Each cache server is further configured to provide the content to the client system and provide the security data to a monitoring system.

1. A content delivery network comprising:
a monitoring system comprising a processor; a cache server remote from the monitoring system and including a storage medium having instructions that, when executed, perform a method comprising: receiving a request for content from a client system; receiving the content and a security data file of a content server from the content server in response to receiving the request for the content; caching the content at the cache server; providing the content to the client system; and providing the security data file to the monitoring system; wherein the monitoring system identifies changes in operation of the content server based upon the security data file and generates an alert upon identifying the changes.
