The present invention relates to a method for preparing a polymer. By using a thermal polymerization initiator and a metal reducing agent together, provided is a polymer which quickly performs a polymerization reaction in a solvent of intermediate polarity and has low molecular weight distribution degree. The method for preparing the polymer comprises a step of polymerizing a polymerizing monomer in the presence of inorganic metal salt, a ligand coordinate-bonded with the inorganic metal salt, an atom transition polymerization initiator, a thermal polymerization initiator, and a metal reducing agent.
