PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear change control device which can maintain favorable fuel economy performance even if an acceleration opening is temporarily largely varied.SOLUTION: This gear change control device calculates a target drive force Fd every time a prescribed time &Dgr;T lapses (step S5), calculates a differential absolute value &Dgr;F between an optimum fuel consumption rate Fopt [Fd] with respect to the target drive force Fd and a fuel consumption rate FN[Fd] at each gear stage N with respect to the target drive force Fd (step S8), determines a candidate gear stage Nc from among the gear stages N (step S13), integrates the differential absolute value &Dgr;F which is calculated during a period from a previous gear change time up to the present for each candidate gear stage Nc, and determines the candidate gear stage Nc at which the integrated value J becomes minimum as a target gear stage Nm (step S15). |
