PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device capable of stably supporting a rotor while the rotor is efficiently rotated.SOLUTION: The bearing device comprises a thrust collar 20 provided to project from the outer peripheral surface of a rotor 2 extending along an axis line O; and a plurality of bearing pad groups 30, in which a pad surface is arranged to face the thrust collar 20 in an axis line O direction. In the plurality of bearing pad groups 30, opposite distances h1 and h2 to the thrust collar 20 are arranged differently with each other in the bearing pad groups 30, and most close proximity bearing pad groups 40, which are at least bearing pad groups 30 that approach most the thrust collar 20 in the bearing pad groups 30, comprise a retraction drive part 42 for retracting from the thrust collar 20, the retraction drive part 42 retracting the bearing pad groups when a force applied to the bearing pad groups from the thrust collar 20 exceeds a prescribed threshold value. |
