<p>A liquid crystal aligning agent, and a liquid crystal display device using it are provided to obtain a satisfactory liquid crystal alignment and to improve voltage holding ratio. A liquid crystal aligning agent comprises at least one kind of compound selected from the group consisting of the poly(amic acid) obtained by reacting a tetracarboxylic dianhydride and a diamine comprising the compound represented by the formula 1, and its polyimide, wherein X is a divalent organic group comprising an aromatic ring, or -O-*, -S-*, -SO2-*, -NH-*, -COO-*, -OCO*-, -NHCO-*, -CONH-*, -CONH-*, -CO-*, -CH2O-*, a methylene group or an alkylene group of C2 ~ C8 (wherein -* is a chroman structure side); Y are identical or different each other and are -O-*, -S-*, -SO2-*, -NH-*, -COO-*, -OCO-*, -NHCO-*, -CONH-*, -CONH-*, -CO-*, a methylene group or an alkylene group of C2 ~ C8 (wherein -* bonds with an aminophenyl group); and RI, RII and RIII are a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group, respectively.</p> |
