PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overvoltage protection circuit capable of reliably protecting an element, which operates with an output power supply voltage outputted from a voltage regulator, from destruction due to an overvoltage.SOLUTION: An overvoltage protection circuit, which is applied to a voltage regulator including an output power supply circuit that generates, in accordance with an internal signal, a predetermined output power supply voltage from a high power supply voltage supplied from a high voltage power supply terminal of a chip to a first power supply node and outputs the predetermined output power supply voltage to a third power supply node, comprises: a first clamp circuit that, when an overvoltage is applied from the high voltage power supply terminal to the first power supply node, connects the first power supply node and a second power supply node, to which a low power supply voltage is supplied from a lower voltage power supply terminal of the chip, to each other; a first overvoltage detection circuit that detects that an overvoltage is applied to the first power supply node; and a second clamp circuit that, when the first overvoltage detection circuit detects that an overvoltage is applied to the first power supply node, connects the third power supply node and the second power supply node to each other. |
