PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which selects an appropriate focus detection method in accordance with focus information of a lens with respect to an imaging element, at low cost.SOLUTION: The imaging device includes: an imaging element having imaging pixels and focus detection pixels and photoelectrically converting an object image; first focus detection means for performing focus detection by a contrast system; second focus detection means for performing focus detection by a phase difference system on the basis of signals obtained from the focus detection pixels of the imaging element; and control means for performing focus control by selecting either the first focus detection means or the second focus detection means in accordance with focus information of a lens with respect to the imaging element.
