PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a can body machining method in which a can body with a good appearance can be manufactured at low cost without lowering a column strength by forming a taper-shaped neck-in part of a relatively large diameter-reduction amount with relatively small number of steps without causing a crease, and also to provide the can body with the taper-shaped neck-in part of the relatively large diameter-reduction amount and having high column strength and good appearance.SOLUTION: A neck-in part 6 is formed so as to become a predetermined target opening diameter by sequentially performing a plurality of drawing steps at an opening end. When a ratio of a drawing amount of each drawing step to a total drawing amount from an opening diameter before the drawing until obtaining the target opening diameter is assumed as a step drawing rate, the step drawing rate of each drawing step is reduced as in subsequent steps. |
