PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for knitting a fabric having a forked portion which improves the strength of the forked portion.SOLUTION: In an existing stitch row retained on one needle bed, a plurality of starting stitches 11 consecutively aligned in a knitting width direction are selected, and widening stitches 12 which are paired with the respective selected starting stitches 11 are consecutively formed. Double stitches 13 are formed by superposing stitches based on the respective starting stitches 11 on stitches based on the respective widening stitches 12. In the double stitches 13, left set-up portions 13L and right set-up portions 13R which become set-up portions in a forked portion 4 of a left knitted fabric portion and a right knitted fabric portion are set in such a way that, between stitches of the set-up portions 13L on one side, one or more stitches of the set-up portions 13R on the other side are arranged. The left knitted fabric portion is knitted following a stitch row including the left set-up portions 13L, and the right knitted fabric portion is knitted following a stitch row including the right set-up portions 13R. |
