PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alarm device and a control method thereof capable of eliminating uneasiness of a user at the time of an earthquake.SOLUTION: An alarm device 20 includes: a voice output part 23 for alarming that a gas leakage has occurred at the time of inspecting the gas leakage; an input part 22a; and a control part 22b. The control part 22b is configured such that when information to the effect that a cutoff valve of a gas meter is closed due to earthquake sensing is input by the input part 22a, the voice output part 23 is allowed to output information to the effect that the cutoff valve of the gas meter is closed due to the earthquake, and when information to the effect that the cutoff valve is opened through the confirmation of safety after the earthquake is input by the input part 22a, the voice output part 23 is allowed to output information to the effect that the cutoff value of the gas meter is opened due to an automatic restoration.
