PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining an ink ejection state of a recording head, the method capable of accurately determining the ejection state of each nozzle while suppressing increases in the size and cost of an apparatus.SOLUTION: A recording apparatus comprises: a recording head having a heater that generates heat energy for ejecting ink and a temperature sensor for detecting a temperature; and driving means for driving the heater. The ink ejection state determination method of the apparatus is performed as follows. Control is performed so as to drive the heater by applying a first voltage for ejecting the ink by the driving means, and thereafter drive the heater by applying a second voltage enough not to eject the ink. It is determined whether the ink is normally ejected or ejection failure has occurred based on a difference between two temperatures detected by the temperature sensor at times before and after applying the second voltage, or a change of the temperature detected by the temperature sensor in an interval between two times after applying the second voltage. |
