<p>Disclosed are a steel material having an alloy composition for reducing cracks in drawing and processing, and a method for manufacturing a steel product using the steel material. The steel material according to the present invention is composed of: 0.4-0.5 wt.% of C; 0.2-0.5 wt.% of Si; 0.5-0.9 wt.% of Mn; 0.03 wt.% or less of P; 0.02-0.035 wt.% of S; 15-25 wt.ppm of Ca; one or more of 0.2 wt.% or less of Ni, 0.2 wt.% or less of Cr, 0.05 wt.% or less of Mo, 0.2 wt.% or less of Cu, 0.02 wt.% or less of Sn, and 0.025 wt.% or less of Al; and the rest of Fe and inevitable impurities.
