PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a set of a thermal transfer ink sheet and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet capable of maintaining releasability at printing under high temperature and high humidity environment or sticking resistance while improving density of a prepared printed matter and increasing glossiness of the printed matter, and an image formation method using the same.SOLUTION: In a set of a thermal transfer ink sheet and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet 10, the thermal transfer ink sheet includes: a base material sheet; a thermal transferable coloring material layer on one surface of the base material sheet; and a heat resistant lubricating layer on the other surface of the base material sheet. The heat resistant lubricating layer includes: a binder resin including a hydroxy group-containing thermoplastic resin and a polyisocyanate resin; and organic fine particles and/or inorganic fine particles. The thermal transfer image receiving sheet 10 includes: a base material 11; and at least a second hollow layer 13, a first hollow layer 14, and a reception layer 15 in this order on the base material 11. The first hollow layer 14 having contact with the reception layer 15 includes hollow particles having heat resistant temperature of 200°C or higher.
