[Problem] To provide a switching element drive circuit which is capable of performing an overcurrent protection operation quickly and stably on a switching element. [Solution] The present invention comprises: a comparator which, when the output voltage of a drive circuit body that drives a switching element to turn on or off exceeds a first reference voltage, drives a first control element, and reduces the output voltage, said first control element being connected to a control terminal of the switching element; a differential amplifier which drives a second control element in accordance with the voltage difference between the output voltage of the drive circuit body, and a second reference voltage that is lower than the first reference voltage, said second control element being connected to the control terminal of the switching element, and which maintains the output voltage at the second reference voltage; and an operation termination unit which permits the first and the second control elements to be driven by the comparator, and the differential amplifier when overcurrent has been detected by a current detection unit. |
