Medicinal preparations such as pills, tablets, suppositories are formed by shaping a composition comprising a medicinal substance and a major proportion of a polyalkyleneoxide. Substances modifying the properties of the polyalkylene oxide may also be added, e.g. glycerine, water, fats, hydrocarbons, and products of the reaction of polyalkylene oxides on other organic compounds such as by the action of ethylene oxide or castor oil, ricinoleic acid or oleyl alcohol. Examples describe preparations of polyethylene oxide with adjuvants of the kind referred to as vehicle and including as the active ingredient 1. morphine hydrochloride; 2. dimethylamino-phenyldimethylpyrazolone, sodium phenyldimethylpyrazolone methylamino-methane sulphonate and urethane; 3. the compound of gelatose and silver nitrate; 4. papaverine hydrochloride, 5. caffeine and phenylethylmalonyl urea.
