The purpose of the present invention is to provide an oral phosphorus-adsorbing agent which can achieve the adsorption of phosphorus by calcium carbonate and/or calcium acetate in the body and can minimize the absorption of calcium resulting from the calcium carbonate and/or calcium acetate therein. In administrating calcium carbonate and/or calcium acetate as an oral phosphorus-adsorbing agent, use of alginic acid and/or an alginic acid salt except calcium alginate together with the phosphorus-adsorbing agent makes it possible to inhibit a living body from absorbing calcium while ensuring an effective phosphorus-adsorbing activity of calcium carbonate and/or calcium acetate.
