<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can appropriately set fixing conditions and image forming conditions according to the types of a transfer material, and an arrangement method of detection means.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes a fixing device 70 that heats a toner image on the basis of the fixing set temperature to fix the toner image on a recording medium S, and an optical sensor 50 that detects smoothness of the recording medium S. When a time required for the fixing device 70 to reach the fixing set temperature to be set to the recording medium S is T5, and a time required for the recording medium S to reach the fixing device 70 is T6, the relationship T6>T5 is established.</p> |
