PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure which is a catalyst carrier and functions as a heater by applying a voltage, can suppress deviation of a temperature distribution when a voltage is applied and is excellent in thermal shock resistance.SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure 100 which comprises a honeycomb structure part 4 and a pair of electrode parts 21, wherein the honeycomb structure part 4 has an electric resistivity of 1 to 200 &OHgr;cm, each of the pair of electrode parts 21 is formed in a strip-shape extending in a direction of extension of cells of the honeycomb structure part 4, one of the electrode parts 21 is disposed on the opposite side across the center of the honeycomb structure part 4 with respect to the other of the electrode parts 21, one or more electrode part slits 6a, which are slits 6 opening to an electrode part area P, are formed, one or more honeycomb structure part slits 6b , which are slits opening to a honeycomb structure part area Q, are formed, and the depth of at least one electrode part slit 6a is higher than the depth of at least one honeycomb structure part slit 6b. |
