The present invention relates to an application execution apparatus, a control method thereof, and a recording medium for the same. According to the present invention, a method for controlling an application execution apparatus executes an application module as one of an activity type and a service type. The method comprises the steps of: executing a player module as a service type and reproducing a predetermined content using the player module; displaying a selection menu corresponding to an external activity in an area of a screen in a state where the reproduction of the content is maintained when generation of the external activity is detected; and calling and performing a function corresponding to a selected item when a user′s selection for an item included in the selection menu is detected.
