A friction pad assembly for a disk brake is provided with: a back plate (17); a guide plate (19) in which a plurality of guide hole portions (39) are bored; a plurality of lining assemblies (21) which are each provided with a plate fitting portion (45) and a retaining flange portion (47) that are formed in a back plate portion (23) secured to the back surface of a friction material (41), are each inserted and fitted into the guide hole portion (39) to transmit braking torque from the plate fitting portion (45) to the guide plate (19), and are each biased to the guide plate (19) side; and a rotation restriction plate (37) which engages with a cutout section (59) formed in the retaining flange portion (47) to restrict the rotation of the lining assembly (21).
