[Class 51 (i)] A furnace door 3 is made hollow and provided with horizontal partitions 7, 7a, 7<1>, 7<2>, to form an air heating passage 8 for the combustion air. Air enters the door through a valve controlled pipe 12, passes through the passages formed between the partitions and is finally delivered over the fire through a row of downwardly directed perforations 9. The partitions 7, 7<2> are arranged as shown in Fig. 1 to provide a dead space 23 through which air does not circulate. |
