The measuring device (12) comprises a detection unit (3) and a gas delivery unit (2), the detection unit (3) having a lighting device (37) for lighting the reaction chamber (46) of the reaction carrier (14), an optical sensor (38) for detecting the optically detectable reaction, and an evaluation unit (4) for evaluating data of the optically detectable reaction received from the optical sensor (38) and for determining a concentration of the component of the gas mixture. The gas delivery unit (2) comprises a gas delivering device (28) for delivering the gas mixture through the gas outlet channel (18) and a control/regulation unit (31) which is designed to control or regulate a flow of the gas mixture through the flow channel (42) depending on at least one reaction speed parameter.
