PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a symbol information reading device, a symbol information reading method, and a program which can prevent wrong determination when reading symbol information, such as a bar code, and can correctly read the whole symbol information.SOLUTION: A symbol information reading device includes: a correlation map creation part 142 which obtains correlation with an adjacent area adjacent to the direction orthogonal to a scanning direction of a scanning line with respect to a temporary area equivalent to symbol information and creates a map showing an area high in correlation value; and a labeling part 143 which searches for the presence of a basic bar code with respect to the correlation map and labels an area where it is determined that a prescribed basic bar code is present. The labeling part 143 determines whether or not there is a basic pattern in accordance with a rate of high correlation area occupying in an area to be determined or a position of the high correlation area in the basic pattern when searching for presence of a predetermined basic pattern in the correlation map obtained by the correlation map creation part and performing labeling. |
