PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium sulfur secondary battery capable of improving initial discharge capacity and to provide an electrode material suitable for being used for the lithium sulfur secondary battery.SOLUTION: The lithium sulfur secondary battery includes an electrolyte, a negative electrode, and a positive electrode containing an electrode material that contains a porous carbon material whose pore distribution exhibits an inverted opal type and has a maximum value in a range of 30 nm to 80 nm or a porous carbon material manufactured by a casting method that carries sulfur or a sulfur compound.
