The present invention provides a metal material comprising an alloy that is represented by the compositional formula Mn3-xM1xSiyAlzM2a, wherein M1 is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, Cr, We, Co, Ni, and Cu; M2 is at least one element selected from the group consisting of B, P, Ga, Ge, Sn, and Bi, where 0@x@3.0, 3.5@y@4.5, 2.5@z@3.5, and 0@a@1, the alloy having a negative Seebeck coefficient and an electrical resistivity of 1 mOmega·cm or less at a temperature of 25° C. or higher. The metal material of the present invention is a novel material that has good thermoelectric conversion capability in the intermediate temperature region and excellent durability, and that is useful as an n-type thermoelectric conversion material. |
