A method is disclosed calculating a value representative of a downhole temperature in a hydrocarbon well. The well comprises production tubing (3) inside outer tubing (4), there being an annulus between the production tubing and the outer tubing, which annulus receives a hydraulic control line (2) supplying hydraulic fluid for the control of a downhole device (1). The method comprises sensing the pressure of hydraulic fluid in the control line at the wellhead and using a measurement of that pressure to calculate a value representative of a downhole temperature. |
