<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master unit which can prevent wrong transmission. <P>SOLUTION: An MFP 1 can prevent wrong transmission when a slave unit 40 is judged to be outside a prescribed range of the MFP 1 while communication is going on between the slave unit 40 and an external unit 102, because a facsimile transmission of data is forbidden. On the other hand, when the slave unit 40 is judged to be inside the prescribed range of the MFP 1, even while communication is going on between the slave 40 and the external unit 102, that is, when it is most likely the user using the slave unit 40 is the same person as the one who pressed a start key 15a of the MFP 1, facsimile transmission to the external unit 102, with which the user is communicating, is executed under the condition that the start key 15a is pressed.
