<p>Measures for use in a cell update procedure are provided, the cell update procedure relating to cell reselection of a user equipment (UE) from a source cell to a target cell in a cellular telecommunications network. A source cell identification functionality support indication is transmitted from a network entity (e.g. Base Station) associated with the target cell to the user equipment, the source cell identification functionality support indication indicating that the target cell supports source cell identification functionality. In response to receipt of the source cell identification functionality support indication, a source cell identification message is transmitted from the UE to the network entity associated with the target cell, the source cell identification message comprising an identifier for the source cell. In the case when it is determined that either the UE or the target cell does not support a source cell identification functionality, a cell-update message is transmitted in relation to reselection of the UE from a source cell to the target cell. The network entity associated with the source cell may comprise a Base Station, or a femot-cell, pico-cell, a Home NodeB (HNB), a Home enhanced NodeB (HeNB), a Home NodeB gateway (HNB GW) or a Home enhanced NodeB gateway (HeNB GW).</p> |
