<p>Preparing a carbamatoorganosilane compound (VII) comprises reacting a haloorganosilane compound (VIII) with a metal cyanate and an alcohol compound (IX) in the presence of an aprotic solvent (L), where prior to the separation of the solids as by-products, the obtained metal halides, metal cyanate residue and at least 50% of the solvent are removed by distillation. Preparing a carbamatoorganosilane compound of formula (R 1>O-C(=O)-NH-R 2>-SiR 3> 3-x(OR 4>)) (VII) comprises reacting a haloorganosilane compound of formula (X-R 2>-SiR 3> 3-x(OR 4>) x) (VIII) with a metal cyanate and an alcohol compound of formula (R 1>OH) (IX) in the presence of an aprotic solvent (L), where prior to the separation of the solids as by-products, the obtained metal halides, metal cyanate residue and at least 50% of the solvent are removed by distillation.
