The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for battery balancing. More specifically, provided are an apparatus and a method for battery balancing, which control a power relay assembly and are for balancing between batteries connected in parallel. According to an embodiment of the present invention, by controlling the power relay assembly when voltage imbalance between batteries connected in parallel occurs and performing battery balancing, stability can be increased by preventing deterioration of the battery, lifespan of the battery can be extended, and maintenance costs of the battery can be reduced.
