<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve precision of authentication of an individual with a small quantity of learning and without a special operation. <P>SOLUTION: A personal authentication device (C, NK) includes a pressure detection member (SN) which has a first detection part (SN1) and a second detection part (SN1); feature quantity arithmetic means (C5B) of computing a first feature quantity (u<SB POS="POST">1p</SB>) and a second feature quantity (u<SB POS="POST">2p</SB>); correlation coefficient storage means (C2M1) of associating and storing a registrant and a correlation coefficient (r<SB POS="POST">ijp</SB>); distance arithmetic means (C5C) of computing a Mahalanobis distance (D) of a subject person based upon the correlation coefficient (r<SB POS="POST">ijp</SB>), first feature quantity (u<SB POS="POST">1p</SB>), and second feature quantity (u<SB POS="POST">2p</SB>); threshold determination means (C5D) of determining the Mahalanobis distance (D<SB POS="POST">p</SB>) is equal to or less than a threshold (S<SB POS="POST">D</SB>); registrant authentication means (C5E) of authenticating the subject person as a registrant associated with the correlation coefficient (r<SB POS="POST">ijp</SB>) used to compute the Mahalanobis distance (D<SB POS="POST">p</SB>); and authentication display means (C5H, C5H'). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
