According to an embodiment of the present invention, a clearance compensator of a steering gear for a vehicle includes a rack bearing disposed at one side of a rack bar inside a housing to support the rack bar; an elastic member disposed behind the rack bearing to elastically support the rack bearing; a clearance compensation unit disposed behind the elastic member to press the elastic member toward the rack bar by rotation in order to support the elastic member; a detection unit installed at the clearance compensation unit to move toward the rack bar if a clearance is formed between the rack bar and the rack bearing and to generate a driving signal driving the clearance compensation unit if moved in a predetermined distance; a driving unit disposed behind the clearance compensation unit to be coupled to the clearance compensation unit, and receiving the driving signal from the detection unit to supply rotary force to the clearance compensation unit; and an adjuster plug disposed behind the driving unit to support the driving unit. According to the present invention, operation information of a vehicle and a clearance between the rack bar and the rack bearing are obtained by the driving unit and the detection unit to compensate the clearance by driving a servo-motor, thereby improving performance of a product by compensating an accurate clearance between the rack bar and the rack bearing, and thus reducing frictional sound generated between parts.
