<p>Provided is a proximity-field optical head comprising a proximity-field light emitting element formed on the confronting face of a slider confronting the surface of a magnetic recording medium, and having a side face contacting the confronting face, for generating a proximity-field light from its side opposite to the side contacting the confronting face. Further comprised are a first magnetic pole of a thin film shape formed on at least a portion of the side face of the proximity-field light emitting element, a coil having a coil axis substantially normal to the confronting face and wound on the coil axis over the first magnetic pole and the side face, and an insulating layer for insulating the first magnetic pole and the coil.</p> |
