<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aromatic compound having characteristics such as high heat resistance and high refractive index. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the new aromatic compound represented by formula (1) includes reacting a compound represented by formula (2) with a compound represented by formula (3) in the presence of an acid catalyst to synthesize the aromatic compound.
