PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently ensure electrical insulation in a damper allowing damping force to be changed by using a functional fluid which changes its viscosity according to electrical energy applied thereto by energization.SOLUTION: A washing machine includes a damper 21 which energizes coils 38 and 41 to increase damping force. In the machine, the damper 21 is mounted via a mounting part 24 to a base plate 1a of an outer case 1 in such a manner that a lower end 24c of the mounting part 24 is located at a position higher than a height H of a waterproof pan 67 for installation of the washing machine. Thereby, water is prevented from coming into contact with the damper 21 even when the water is accumulated in the waterproof pan 67 due to detachment of a drain hose 16 or other causes, so that electrical insulation can be satisfactorily ensured. |
