<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear type ultrasonic wave motor whose vibration speed can have a waveform like a rectangular wave and, by extension, whose wear of a sliding part can be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: An ultrasonic wave motor includes: a vibrator 1 that forms elliptical vibration by degenerating vertical vibration in a primary mode and bending vibration in a secondary mode and providing a phase difference between the both vibrations; and a movable body 3 that is in contact with a driver 2 fixed to the vibrator 1 by pressure, and that relatively moves in one axial direction to the vibrator 1 when the elliptical vibration is formed by the vibrator 1.
