PURPOSE: A battery charging apparatus is provided to prevent damage to a vehicle battery and the charging apparatus by stopping charge in a reverse voltage or low voltage condition of the battery. CONSTITUTION: A battery charging apparatus(2) comprises a high voltage charge unit(221), a detection unit(222), a control unit(223), and a noise removal unit(224) and charges a battery(24) using an AC power source(21). The high voltage charge unit charges the battery with converted high voltage. The detection unit is installed between the cathode and anode terminals of the battery to detect the voltage between the terminals of the battery. The control unit measures the voltage of the battery detected by the detection unit, compares the measured voltage with a predetermined reference voltage, and determines whether to charge the battery. |
