摘要 A medium feeding apparatus includes: a placement portion on which a medium is placed; a feeding unit which feeds the fed medium placed on the placement portion in a feeding direction; an edge guide which makes contact with the medium placed on the placement portion at a side edge in a width direction so as to determine a position of the medium in the width direction; and an adjustment unit which displaces at least a part of the edge guide such that a contact portion of the edge guide with the medium is placed on a line along the feeding direction so as to adjust a posture of the medium with respect to the feeding direction.

A medium feeding apparatus comprising: a placement portion on which a medium is placed, wherein the placement portion is a medium feed tray that is located downstream of a recording head of a recording apparatus that the medium feeding apparatus is part of; a feeding unit which feeds the medium placed on the placement portion in a feeding direction; an edge guide which makes contact with the medium placed on the placement portion at a side edge in a width direction so as to determine a position of the medium in the width direction; and an adjustment unit which displaces at least a part of the edge guide such that a contact portion of the edge guide with the medium is placed on a line along the feeding direction so as to adjust a posture of the medium with respect to the feeding direction, the adjustment unit including a cam portion, wherein a tooth-shaped jagged portion is formed on the cam portion, and wherein a part of the tooth-shaped portion is configured so as to engage with a claw portion formed on the placement portion, wherein the adjustment unit is located adjacent the edge guide on a placement portion side of the edge guide so as to be adjacent the placement portion, wherein the adjustment unit is configured such that an upstream side of the edge guide in the feeding direction is capable of swinging about a fulcrum in the width direction of the medium.
