[Class 46] A container housing an upwardly-extending filtering material 21 is in two parts, the part 2 being shaped to the contour of the filtering material and spaced a relatively short distance therefrom, and the part 1, which receives the material to be filtered, being of large volume compared to the volume of the space between the filtering material 21 and the inner surface of the part 2. The filtering material 21 consists of filter paper surrounding a perforated support 7 and clamped between the part 2 and a funnel member 4. A pipe 20 extending into the outlet of the funnel 4 may be provided to create suction within the filter as the filtrate discharges. The lower part of the container may be placed on one floor of a building and the upper part placed on the floor above, the two parts being connected by a pipe. Specification 487,333 is referred to. The first Provisional Specification describes an arrangement in which the container housing the conical filter is of cylindrical form. |
