摘要 Image data is processed to facilitate focusing and/or optical correction. According to an example embodiment of the present invention, an imaging arrangement collects light data corresponding to light passing through a particular focal plane. The light data is collected using an approach that facilitates the determination of the direction from which various portions of the light incident upon a portion of the focal plane emanate from. Using this directional information in connection with value of the light as detected by photosensors, an image represented by the light is selectively focused and/or corrected.

A computer-implemented method for generating a corrected image of a scene using image data collected by an imaging arrangement during one exposure event, the method comprising: a processor collecting image data with an imaging arrangement, wherein the image data comprises light rays from the scene; the processor tracing light rays through optical elements of the imaging device; the processor mapping the traced light rays to particular photosensors of the imaging device; and the processor generating a virtual image that corrects for at least one of optical and chromatic aberrations in a captured image resulting from the exposure event, comprising, computing light ray values that contribute to each pixel of an ideal virtual version of the image as it would be captured by an ideal model of the imaging arrangement, comprising tracing the light rays from a virtual film plane at which the light rays are ideally focused through an ideal model of the imaging arrangement, wherein the virtual film plane is different from the actual film plane of the exposure event;tracing red, blue and green light ray color components separately from an ideal red color ray film plane, an ideal blue color ray film plane, and an ideal green color ray film plane, respectively; andproducing output pixels comprising a corrected image value for each pixel.
