Disclosed are a device and a method for displaying an image. The device comprises: a first image output unit which is set to a master operation mode to output image signals to be displayed; a second image output unit which is set to a slave operation mode and is converted to be set to the master operation mode when there is a failure in the first image output unit, and consecutively outputs the image signals or new image signals; an image signal selection unit to compare a transmission address of a master message transmitted from either the first output unit or the second image output unit with prestored address information and to select the image signals received from either the first image output unit or the second output unit, whichever has a matched address; and an image displsay unit to display the selected image signals.
