摘要 A soap dispensing assembly includes a soap container and a universal dispenser. The soap container is capable of having a liquid pump or a foaming pump attached to it. The universal dispenser is adapted to house and dispense soap from the soap container regardless of whether the container has a liquid pump or a foaming pump. Using this assembly, a manufacturer may sell the universal dispenser and offer to sell the consumer liquid and foamable soap for use with the same dispenser.

A dispenser for a soap container, the dispenser comprising: a container mount configured to retain a soap container having a pump including a pump axis, the container mount including a rear wall; a cover pivotally secured to the container mount, the cover being pivotable relative to the container mount between open and closed positions, the cover including a front wall facing the rear wall of the container mount when the cover is in the closed position; the container mount configured to retain the soap container so that an axis along which the pump is reciprocal intersects the rear wall of the container mount; an actuator for selectively actuating operation of the pump of the soap container when the soap container is retained by the container mount and the cover is in the closed position, the actuator including an engagement member disposed for actuating engagement by a hand and configured to engage the pump of the soap container and movable between forward and rearward positions for producing a pumping action of the pump, and at least one spring arm extending upward from the engagement member and pivotally connected to the cover for pivoting about a pivot axis and to allow the engagement member to move between its forward and rearward positions, wherein the at least one spring arm is elastically deformable to bias the engagement member to the forward position, wherein an upper portion of the at least one spring arm is disposed above the pivot axis, said upper portion of the at least one spring arm being elastically deformable to bias the actuator to the forward position; wherein the engagement member is disposed below the pivot axis when the engagement member is in the rearward position.
