499,159. Reinforced - concrete floors. OLSEN, H. March 3, 1938, Nos. 6725 and 6726. Convention dates, March 3, 1937 and June 19, 1937. [Class 20 (iv)] A reinforced-concrete floor is provided with embedded hollow filler bodies 3 so as to form channels with intervening ribs 8 of uniform cross-section extending between, and connecting, the upper and lower layers of the floor, and the main reinforcing members 5 are distributed uniformly throughout the tension zone 7 of the floor in the same direction as the hollow bodies at points disposed beneath the hollow bodies and at points disposed beneath the ribs 8. The hollow bodies may be so shaped that the ribs 8 formed between them are of substantially rectangular cross-section and they may be formed with rounded or chamfered upper and lower corners. The reinforcements 5 may be bent upwardly at certain points into the ribs 8 as shown at 9, and these bent portions may be braced by iron stirrups. The structure may be supported at two opposite ends, and at these places the structure may merge into a solid concrete cross-section into which the reinforcements 5 are bent upwardly. The tension zone 7 of the structure may be reinforced by transverse members 10 in addition to the longitudinal reinforcements 5.
