providing a target preparation device and a target, the target preparation device including a housing having a cavity, the target being positioned in the cavity of the housing and having a target surface; introducing an analyte solution into the cavity of the housing such that the analyte solution is in contact with the target surface, the analyte solution including an analyte and a solvent; and delivering a drying gas into the cavity of the housing to evaporate the solvent of the analyte solution and to deposit the analyte onto the target surface. |
