The hybrid drive system further comprises an power exchange control system (50) which: - selectively connects a predetermined selection (62, 64, 66) of one or more of the hydraulic power storage units (60) to the hydraulic auxiliary power unit (20); and - controls the power exchange of the auxiliary power unit (20) in function of the operating period (100) by means of the predetermined selection.
