THREE-PHASE CHOKES AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THEREOF

Three-phase choke devices and methods of manufacturing them are described. The choke devices generally comprise two substantially parallel closed-loop yoke elements made from spiral-wound magnetic ribbon material, three leg elements interposed between said yoke elements, where each one of said leg elements is arranged in the form of an axial stack comprising: at least one open-loop element comprising a magnetic material and having a sectional cut causing discontinuity in the magnetic material of the open-loop element and thereby substantially minimizing magnitude of electric voltages induced in the at least one open-loop element during operation of the choke device; and at least one spacer operable to form at least one discontinuity of magnetic material in a magnetic path associated with the leg element. The choke devices further comprise three coils, each being mounted on one of said leg elements.
