APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SHAPING GLASS INTO CURVED SHAPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of shaping a curved shape of glass which achieves both mass productivity and specularity and realize extention of lifes of shaping dies and an apparatus for the method.SOLUTION: An apparatus for shaping a curved surface of glass G comprises: a glass charging portion 10; a heating portion 20 which is provided with a heating element 21 irradiating the glass G with directly or indirectly acting infrared rays and a reflector plate 22 and heats selectively a shaping area G1 of the glass G; a pressing portion 30 which presses the glass G after heating with shaping dies 32 and 33; and a shaped glass take-out portion 50. There are provided freely openable/closable side walls 61, 62, 63 and 64 which are arranged in individual adjacent planes of the individual portions to make the inside into a chamber in a specified state. The glass G which is heated alone to the softening point of the glass G while the temperature change of the shaping die 32 and 33 is suppressed in the press portion is transferred to the shaping dies 32 and 33 and pressed. A method for the apparatus for shaping a curved surface of glass G is also provided.
