PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To meet the need for the provision of a method capable of compensating for the effect of an optical dot gain in FM printing in which there is a large difference in halftone dot shape and also in fine-line AM printing in which a halftone dot size is small, and being free of a reduction in the accuracy of reproduction color prediction.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for predicting a print reproduction color in which the measured color of a reproduction color is calculated by: performing repeatedly, for a plurality of halftones, a step of obtaining the effective area rates of a solid and a virtual original color so that an error with the spectral reflectivity of a measured primary color step is minimum; representing the relationship between the device control value of the primary color and the above two effective area rates by an approximate expression; obtaining the relationship between the device control value and the effective area rates; expressing the spectral reflectivity of a primary color halftone by a linear sum of the spectral reflectivity of paper and the spectral reflectivity of the solid; obtaining a spectral effective area rate assuming that the effective area rate constituting a coefficient for each is the function of a wavelength; obtaining a spectral reflectivity relative to the multiplication of discretionary set values; and calculating the colorimetric value of a reproduction color. |
