PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matrix converter capable of directly converting AC power to AC power in a simple process.SOLUTION: A matrix converter 1 is such matrix converter that directly converts an inputted 3-phase AC power to a 3-phase AC power, for outputting to a load. It includes: a bidirectional switch circuit 10 which turns ON/OFF supply of the inputted 3-phase AC power to the load; and a control part 20 which generates a switching pattern of the bidirectional switch circuit so as to perform a virtual AC/DC conversion process, with the inputted 3-phase AC power, according to a plurality of modes sorted according to magnitude correlation of voltages in respective phases in the inputted 3-phase AC power and perform a virtual DC/AC conversion process. |
