<p>A heating cable for a heat tracing system. The heating cable includes a cover, at least one RFID device, and a heating element located inside the cover. The RFID device can be positioned on or inside the cover, or within the body of the heating cable. Each RFID device can provide a single function such as identification of the heating cable, location information of the heating cable, temperature sensing, moisture detection or a data logging/export function. Alternatively, a combined RFID device may be used that provides identification, location, temperature sensing, moisture detection, current detection and data logging/export functions in a single RFID device. Information transmitted by the RFID device can be processed to provide temperature sensing, leak detection, monitoring of operational parameters and conditions, and other functions. Operators of the heat tracing system can use the RFID device information to monitor the system status and take corrective action if needed.</p> |
